Fact
In his speech of 1 July — which makes clear that it was not delivered a day before the coup — Alparslan Kuytul took as his starting point a series of incidents: Obama's unwillingness to meet the President, the treatment shown to the President at Muhammad Ali's funeral, and the discourtesy of the President of Uganda, who sat himself on a throne while seating the President on a low chair. From these he said that certain great and deep powers might have decided to finish off the AK Party and, as they saw it, to write it off. He said that the credit the government had earned through its work was being taken back from it point by point, that efforts were being made to isolate the government in the world and to reduce the number of those who favoured it, and he gave a sincere and well-intentioned warning that the government needed to be careful in this matter.
