Fatih Tezcan said three times on a live broadcast that Kuytul would kill himself in prison

In a live broadcast on 25 August 2026, Fatih Tezcan threatened Alparslan Kuytul repeatedly. Presenting words that were never said as though they had been, and levelling accusations, he set out to incite people against a scholar.

He took the speeches of Alparslan Kuytul, who comments on a range of political subjects, and read them in bad faith by picking sentences out of their context. He attacked throughout the broadcast, casting about for the next accusation. In the end he said what he had come to say: he threatened Alparslan Kuytul with assassination, dressed up as suicide.

A threat, or an attempt to frighten?

Asked whether this was a threat or an attempt to frighten, the answer settles itself once you consider who it was aimed at. Alparslan Kuytul has said many times that he fears no one but Allah, and he has demonstrated it with his life. So this is plainly a threat. These sentences from the same broadcast prove it:

"Stand up to the state and you will be wiped out."

"Let us bury this one properly! Let him never get out!"

He spoke of suicide three separate times

At three points in the broadcast he openly claimed that Kuytul would take his own life, holding the stick under the cloak:

"Let me give you my prediction: he will poison himself in prison..."

"This one will do something to himself in prison."

"He will kill himself, either in prison or outside..."

Yet Alparslan Kuytul spent years in prison before this and never entertained the thought of suicide. In our religion suicide is forbidden, so his own belief rules it out. Indeed, despite treatment in his current prison that amounts to torture, his state of mind is steady enough that he declines the right to see a psychologist. He does not feel the need.

He also undermines trust in state institutions

Alongside the death threat, this insolent pawn destroys public confidence in the institutions of the state and insults those institutions in the same breath. If the authorities are not themselves ill-intentioned, they should see that insult and act on this person at once.

The questions that remain unanswered

• Why have prosecutors taken no action until now?
• Who is this man, that he can hurl threats at a scholar who is in prison and therefore, in a sense, under the state's own protection?
• How is a man in prison supposed to poison himself? Where would he find the poison? Where would a man whose ward you raid and search down to the last detail find such a thing?

The authorities should call Fatih Tezcan to account for these words without delay. If they cannot find him to ask, they should ask whoever holds his leash. Otherwise a heavy suspicion will settle on them, and it is this: is the deep state preparing to kill Alparslan Kuytul in prison and dress it up as suicide?

Allah protects those who suffer for His cause

Throughout history there have been attempts of this kind against many scholars, and even against Prophets. The most striking examples are the Jewish woman at Khaybar who put poison in the Prophet's food in order to kill him, and, in Turkey's own recent past, the eighteen attempts to poison Bediuzzaman to death in this country's dungeons and places of exile by those who could not defeat him by lawful means.

Bediuzzaman described the people who did this to him as "a committee of unbelief whose roots are foreign and whose body is here". The deep forces of that era did everything they could to remove him and to spread godlessness. Allah did not let them reach their aim.

Just as our Lord protected him again and again while he was captive in the hands of the oppressor, He is equally able to protect Alparslan Kuytul, who has given his life to the cause of tawhid, who says "when Allah is behind you it does not matter who stands in front of you", who leans his back on Allah at all times, and who has students that follow him in every circumstance and never leave him alone.
