Clothes brought by Kuytul's family were not handed over in prison

Hocamızın Sesi, the social media account of Furkan Hareketi, announced on 17 September 2026 that Alparslan Kuytul Hocaefendi has been left in prison without enough winter clothing.

The clothes his family brought were not handed over to him by the prison. For weeks Kuytul has been kept with only two summer shirts and two pairs of summer trousers. In Erzurum, where the winter is harsh, he is exposed to the cold and is left shivering because he does not have enough winter clothing.

On one side his pension is blocked, on the other he is forced to meet his needs from the prison canteen. Forcing a person to spend while his only income is cut off is the summary of what the post calls deprivation of rights and arbitrary treatment.

A month-long chronology from his daughter Meryem Kuytul

The same day, Alparslan Kuytul's daughter Meryem Kuytul set out the course of the same matter over a month, point by point. The backbone of the account is a single thing: the rule about handing over clothes changed every week.

1. When Kuytul was transferred, the family, because a lawyer was about to set off, prepared one of each of the things he needed and sent them with the lawyer; they planned to take a fuller set the following week.
2. At the closed visit the prison said, "We do not take in items that the prison canteen has; we take in the ones it does not have." When they asked about used clothing, they were told, "Yes, it is fine if his family brings it"; the condition that items be brand new was stated only for PTT postal deliveries.
3. When the clothes were brought during the open visit week, this time they were told, "During the open visit week we do not accept clothing from the family." Meryem Kuytul pointed out that she had travelled twenty hours there and back.
4. The lawyers at the visit also had the right to hand over items. An officer telephoned somewhere to confirm it and said, "Yes, you can hand them over"; the items were passed to the lawyers.
5. After the family had been taken inside, the lawyers were told, "You cannot hand them over either." It emerged that the decision belonged to the director; when the lawyers asked to see him, they were told that the director had gone into a meeting.
6. A week later the lawyers went again; this time they were told that used items were not accepted and that everything had to be brand new and with the tag still on. The brand-new clothes they brought were not accepted either, because they had no tags on them.

The rules changed every week; at the point now reached, everything is required to be bought again brand new and with the tag still on, while his pension is still blocked. Kuytul has been making do with the same clothes for thirty days; the weather has turned cold and he said, "I am cold."
