Moved 1,000 km away without telling the family

According to Furkan Haber's account of 16 September 2026, Alparslan Kuytul and Semra Kuytul were taken out of Adana Kurkculer Prison, where they had been held since their arrest, without their families or their lawyers being told. On the day of the transfer the families had no official information at all about where the two had been taken.

They learned the address not from a notification but by telephoning prisons one after another. Those calls established that Alparslan Kuytul had been sent to Erzurum, roughly 1,000 kilometres from his home, and Semra Kuytul to Diyarbakir. The prison holding Kuytul is a high-security facility publicly known as a "well type" prison.

Ten other detainees in the same file were likewise moved from Adana and its surroundings to Erzurum without their families or lawyers being informed. Transfers carried out without notice make family visits and work with a defence lawyer directly harder.
