Furkan Haber reports police intervened in press statements in several provinces, above all Istanbul; 46 people were taken into custody and 9 were arrested.
The accusation at the centre of the dispute with Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu is a single sentence: "his roots are abroad". Alparslan Kuytul's answer begins the same way — his mother is known, his father is known, the people he meets are known — and it ends by calling the accuser into a mutual curse. To this day not one document has been produced.
The message Alparslan Kuytul sent from Erzurum Dumlu Prison was published on 1 September 2026 from the Furkan Movement's X account. It says that the purpose behind the detention of 46 people in Istanbul and the arrest of 9 of them is to put an end to the marches and to make those in prison forgotten; it asks that the press statements be continued even if only one person is left.
Someone who hoped to gain from a coup does not say in the same speech that he too might go to prison. What was said that same night, three hours later and six days later is all on record.
In the full recording the word "murderer" was said not about those who took to the streets, but about those who beheaded the privates brought to the bridge after being told "there is a drill".
The foundation did not take part in the joint press statement of August 2014 as an institution; that is true. But no institutional invitation was made, and the content of the programme and who would take part were left unclear.
It is true that they did not join the democracy vigils. But on 21 July 2016 they held an anti-coup gathering in a public square with hundreds of people; the objection was not to opposing the coup but to the name given to the protest.
