Press statements broken up: 46 detained, 9 arrested

According to Furkan Haber's account of 16 September 2026, the arrests that began with the raids of 19 August 2026 were followed by public protest, and the protest was itself broken up. Police intervened in press statements held in several provinces, above all in Istanbul. At those gatherings 46 people were taken into custody, 9 of whom were then arrested by court order.

The same report places the interventions alongside other restrictions of the same period: the movement's official websites and the social media accounts of many members had been blocked. The two sets of arrests stand separately, 36 in the 19 August case file, namely Alparslan Kuytul, Semra Kuytul and 34 members, and 9 arising from the press statements.

Three things fell in the same weeks: the arrests, the breaking up of the gatherings called to announce them, and the closing of the movement's own channels of publication. No official explanation of the grounds for the 46 detentions or the 9 arrests was given.
